Wednesday, August 8, 2007 : (New York City) The level of threats, intimidation, attacks and killings of human activists in Honduras and Guatemala is reaching "worrying proportions" Amnesty International said in a new report issued on Wednesday. The report - Persecution and Resistance: The experience of human rights defenders in Guatemala and Honduras - exposes a systematic pattern of attacks against those who defend the rights of marginalized communities, including indigenous peoples and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
