Wednesday, July 11, 2007 : (Chicago, Illinois) The New Life Shelter has agreed to insure its facilities will not discriminate against the homeless based on their sexuality in an agreement ending a civil rights complaint by a woman who was denied a bed because she is a lesbian. The American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois filed a complaint in May with the City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations and the State of Illinois Department of Human Rights on behalf of Michelle Wang.
