Russian detainees, returned from artibrary detention at Guantanamo, suffered continued repression in spite of the fact that they were not the subject of criminal charges. According to Human Rights Watch:
"Some reported, in fact, that their homes were so frequently searched that they were unable to provide exact dates of those searches."
