Board of Supervisors Approve Tenant’s Rights Legislation
The Board of Supervisors made several important decisions yesterday, perhaps most significantly approving legislation that would help decrease the number of seniors and disabled people evicted in San Francisco. That approval, however, did not come from enough supervisors to prevent Mayor Gavin Newsom from vetoing the Board’s decision. Early comments from the Mayor’s Office of Housing indicate this veto will occur, a move that will likely anger tenants citywide. In better news for housing advocates, the Board shot down an attempt to convert 38 units at 901 Bush Street from rental units into condominiums.
