State Drug Agents Shoot and Kill Man -- the Wrong Man -- in San Jose
In San Jose, state drug agents killed a man in a case of mistaken identity Tuesday.
Agents from the state bureau of narcotics chased a man they believed was an armed parolee after a stake out at a home on the 800 block of North 14th St. Agents caught up with the man, there was a gun battle, and the man was hit.
Rodolfo Cardenas, 43, died at the hospital. But it turns out he was the wrong man. After discovering the mistake, agents went back and found the real suspect, 37-year-old David Gonzales, who was arrested without incident.
