DESCRIPTION:Dr. Hatem Bazian will be speaking on "Hot Button Issues and the Intifada". 
 He currently teaches at UC-Berkeley where he graduated with a Ph.D. in 
 Islamic studies, specializing in Islamic Law and the history of Muslims in 
 Jerusalem. Dr. Bazian has also authored numerous articles on various 
 aspects of the Middle East. In the past, he has also played a significant 
 role in the civil rights, anti-Apartheid, and affirmative action movements 
 at Berkeley. Dr. Hatem Bazian holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies. He teaches 
 Arabic and Maliki Fiqh at the Zaytuna Institute. Dr.Bazian is the Director 
 of Al-Qalam Institute of Islamic Sciences, Berkeley. \n
