DESCRIPTION:Students & Educators Meet to Map Opposition to War,  Military Recruiting, 
 Mistaken National Priorities  Conference calls for "Money for schools and 
 education,  not war and occupation!"  What: Bay Area antiwar teach-in and 
 movement-building  conference  When: Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day), 10:00 
 AM 6:00 PM  Where: Mission High School, Dolores & 17th St, San  Francisco  
 Scheduled Speakers: Gulf War Vet Aimee Allison,  Middle East scholar, 
 Professor Asad Abu Khalil,  immigrant rights activist Prof. Gemma Lopez 
 Limon, and many others!  On April 22, hundreds of students, educators and  
 antiwar activists will meet in San Francisco to  discuss the Iraq War's 
 impact on education, and how  students and teachers can join their voices 
 to put an  end to the war and occupation in Iraq, the erosion of  
 education, assault on academic freedom and civil  liberties, growing 
 militarization of society, lack of  opportunities for youth (the economic 
 draft), and  growing discrimination against Moslems, Middle  Easterners, 
 South Asians and other immigrants.  They  will discuss how to build a 
 movement that offers hope  for the environment and humanity.  Speakers will 
 include Aimee Allison, a Gulf War  veteran and Central Committee of 
 Conscientious  Objectors activist; Prof. Gemma Lopez Limon,  immigration 
 rights activist, Peter Laufer, author of  "Mission Rejected:  US Soldiers 
 Who Say No to Iraq",  and Professor Asad Abu Khalil, noted middle east  
 scholar.  The conference will include workshops on countering  military 
 recruiters; the country's aggressive U.S.  foreign policy; the links 
 between racism, sexism,  environmental injustice and the war and 
 militarism; immigrants rights and the links to war; the costs of the war at 
 home and abroad; the threat to civil liberties and democratic rights; and 
 many more. General sessions will be designed to create a stronger more 
 unified pro-education, antiwar voice in the education community and a 
 stronger antiwar movement.  Workshop presenters include Carlos Villarreal, 
 National Lawyers Guild; Susan Quinlan of Military Out of Our Schools;David 
 Solnit, People Powered Strategy Projoect, Editor of "Globalize Liberation;" 
 Kamran Nayeri, UC Berkeley political economist; Jim Haber of War Resisters 
 League West; and many, many others. Over thirty workshops will provide 
 insight into war, oppression, and the issues surrounding the world we live 
 in, and this is an educational opportunity you will not want to miss!  
 Lively entertainment will be provided at lunchtime.  General admission is 
 $15. Students and low income pay  $5, but no one will be turned away for 
 lack of funds.  Lunch will be provided with a vegetarian option.  Sponsors
