DESCRIPTION:Mon., April 3, 6:30 - 9:30pm MPJC – SPECIAL NEW DIRECTIONS STRATEGIC
PLANNING POTLUCK OPEN MINDS – OPEN MIC The tides have turned. What are
next steps for Marin’s progressive community? Americans distrust Bush,
his war and his social policies. Do we need open borders like the European
Union to nullify the “immigrant” debate? Is the electoral process a
solution? Are Democrats or Greens the answer? Should we focus on local root
causes of systemic world problems? Is it time to criminalize resource waste
and abuse? Is sustainability a fad for most Americans? What has Katrina
showed us about race relations in the 21st century? As America’s debt
skyrockets, who pays or who’s not paying the bill? Are our “commons”
being raped by big business? Is the environment still under attack by big
buck developers? Do we need drug sniffing dogs in our schools or in the
Whitehouse? How do progressive groups organize for cross-pollination
support structures? How do we support local and honest media? Can our
election process be fixed? As right wing fascist regimes fall worldwide
will the United States follow? Come talk or listen. Bring a dish or not,
come share a meal and a discussion about our future. First United
Methodist Church Downstairs meeting room 9 Ross Valley Dr (corner of
Miracle Mile across from Bedrock Music) San Rafael, CA\n
