 mile Latino Peace March-- that aims to raise Latino voices of opposition to 
 the War in Iraq-- will march through Oakland and San Francisco all day, 
 joining the immigrant rights hunger strike and culminating in a 5pm 
 Culmination Ceremony at Dolores Park. Join us!   Dear Friends and Allies,   
 Hello! As you may know already, the historic Latino March for Peace calling 
 for an end to the war in Iraq arrives in San Francisco on Monday, March 27. 
   Please show your support and join the march or come to the culminating 
 ceremony and memorial service at 5pm in Dolores Park! (See full schedule of 
 events below.)   The historic March for Peace is a 241 mile march from 
 Tijuana, Mexico to San Francisco, CA to ensure that the Latino opposition 
 to the war in Iraq is heard loud and clear all across the United States.   
 On March 12, 2006 Fernando Suarez de Solar, father of Jesus Suarez de 
 Solar, began a 241 mile quest for peace that aims at raising Latino voice 
 of opposition to the War in Iraq. He is joined by Latino military veterans 
 turned war resisters. Together they began their March in Tijuana, Mexico, 
 the birthplace of Jesus Suarez de Solar, and will arrive in the Mission 
 district of San Francisco on March 27, 2006 via Oakland. The March is 
 inspired by nonviolent resistance struggles led by Latino labor activist, 
 Cesar Chavez, and India?s Mahatma Gandhi, who both led marches for peace to 
 call for justice.   Schedule of Events for Oakland and San Francisco March 
 for Peace:   -7:30am, Gather at the Fruitvale BART. March through Oakland?s 
 Fruitvale neighborhood, stopping at schools, churches and community 
 organizations.   35th Ave and East 12th St, Near Int’l Blvd.   -10:30am, 
 Gather at the Quad in the center of Laney College in Oakland. Join Laney 
 College MECHA, students, teachers and veterans in welcoming the March. 
 Special guest: Headrush Chicano Teatro and more.   900 Fallon Street at 9th 
 St, Oakland, near Lake Merritt BART   -12noon, Join the Immigrant Hunger 
 Strike at Senator Dianne Feinstein?s office at Montgomery/Market,

  -5pm, Culminating Ceremony with Aztec Dancers, Latino Labor Choir, Teatro, 
 and Memorial Service for Jesus with local Interfaith leaders at Dolores 
 Park in San Francisco (18th and Dolores St.)   Background info:   Latinos 
 represent nearly 15% of the US population, 11% of the US military and an 
 estimated 20% of the fallen service members in Iraq. The Latino population 
 is a growing force in the US and our voice must be an active part of the 
 more than 60% of US citizens that oppose the war in Iraq. The March for 
 Peace is an opportunity for our community to unite in a loud and definitive 
 call for an end to the war in Iraq. Because of their unique experiences 
 with this war; Fernando, Pablo, Camilo and Aidan are dedicated to working 
 to end the bloodshed in Iraq.   Bios of principal marchers:   -Fernando 
 Suarez del Solar is the father of Jesus Suarez del Solar, one of the first 
 Latinos to die in Iraq. He was killed by a U.S. cluster bomb on March 27, 
 2003.   -Pablo Paredes is a Navy war resister who refused boarding an Iraq 
 boundship on Dec. 6th 2004. He was court martialed, sentenced to prison and 
 eventually discharged.   -Camilo Mejia served one tour in Iraq and then 
 became a National Guard war resister. He was jailed for nine months for 
 refusing to return to Iraq.   -Aidan Delgado is a Conscientious Objector 
 against the Iraq war. He served at Abu Gharib and now tours the country 
 with photographic evidence of the prison abuses.   For more information on

 Por La Paz de   Latinos Contra la Guerra llega a San Francisco el lunes, 27 
 de Marzo.   Vengan a apoyar y participar! (Vean el itinerario del dia mas 
 abajo.)   La historica Marcha por la Paz es un marcha de 241 millas desde 
 Tijuana,Baja California, Mexico hasta San Francisco, CA para asegurar que 
 de que la voz Latina sobre la oposición a la guerra está escuchada en 
 todo los EEUU.   El 12 de Marzo, 2006 Fernando Suarez de Solar, padre de 
 Jesus Suarez de Solar, empezo su caminata de 241 millas por la paz, junto a 
 un grupo de soldados veteranos, con la esperanza de expresar la   oposicion 
 de los latinos contra la guerra en Irak. La caminata se inicio en Tijuana, 
 donde nacio Jesus Suarez de Solar, y llega al districto de la Misión en

 quienes en el pasado lideraron exitosamente a sus comunidades por la paz y

 representamos casi el 15% de la población en Estados Unidos y el 11% en 
 las Fuerzas Armadas. ?Muchos de ellos ocupan los rangos más bajos y los 
 trabajos más peligrosos, es más, casi el 20% de los caídos durante los 
 primeros días de la invasión de Irak eran latinos?, indicó Suárez del 
 Solar. La fuerza de los latinos en este pais esta creciendo.Tambien es 
 necesario que la voz de oposicion a la guerra en Irak de los latinos sea 
 parte de los 60% de estadounidenses que estan en contra. LaMarcha Por La 
 Paz es una oportunidad para unir a la comunidad latina, con el liderazgo de 
 Fernando, Pablo, Camilo y Aidan , en un fuerte llamado contra la guerra en 
 Irak.   Biografias de los Manifestantes Principales:   -Fernando Suarez del 
 Solar se convirtió en uno de los opositores a la guerra más activos en el 
 país después de la muerte de su hijo Jesús Alberto, quien fue unos de 
 los primeros que murio enIrak. Murio el 27 de Marzo, 2003 cuando piso una 
 bomba de fragmentación de EEUU.   -Pablo Paredes era miembro de las 
 fuerzas navales y se negó a embarcar el buque de guerra que iba a Irak con 
 más de dos mil combatientes a bordo. Por esa desobediencia lo procesaron y 
 enviaron a la carcel. Actualmente se dedica a promover la paz en Irak.   
 -Camilo Mejia estuvo en el frente de batalla como miembro de la Guardia 
 Nacional, pero luego de un corto receso en Estados Unidos, se negó a 
 regresar a Irak, por lo que fue encarcelado durante nueve meses por 
 oponerse a la guerra y ahora forma parte de Veteranos de Irak en contra de 
 la Guerra (IVAW).   -Aidan Delgado fue testigo de los abusos y torturas en 
 la prisión de AbuGhraib, por lo cual se manifestó como objetor de
