DESCRIPTION:Join us for Part Four in a speaker series on waste on a global scale for an 
 evening discussion on the waste crisis in Haiti.  Ann Leonard from the 
 Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives will speak about her recent 
 success at removing 400 tons of toxic incinerator ash that was illegally 
 dumped on the beach in Gonaives, Haiti.  Tim Krupnik, of the Ecology Center 
 will show slides and talk about the recent conference in Port au Prince 
 that he took part in which focused on plastic waste, environmental health 
 concerns, and recycling.   Annie and Tim will elaborate upon the ways in 
 which the emerging global economy has driven a growth in waste and a 
 consequent worldwide health crisis.  They will conclude with an update on 
 the World Summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa.  \n\nSuggested 
  donation :$5, no one turned away for lack of funds.  Proceeds will benefit 
 the Zero Waste Fellowship, a project initiated  by the Ecology Center 
 Recycling Program and The Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives 
 (GAIA) to train environmental activists from the global south in sound 
 recycling and waste management strategies.\n
