DESCRIPTION:On Sat. Feb. 11, A.T.A. Gallery’s OTHER CINEMA inaugurates its 22nd year
of programming with “Outsourcing Torture”, a critical look at the
egregious violation of international human-rights guarantees being carried
out by the Bush administration. UCB experimental geographer Trevor Paglen
and investigative journalist A.C. Thompson team up for an energized
audiovisual account of the shell games and front companies set up by the
CIA to sub-contract out the abduction and delivery of terror suspects to
 off-shore dungeons. Paglen’s expertise in the plane-spotting sub-culture
led to the trail of the sleazy, politically connected gangsters who are
running the operations out of Nevada. An hour of supporting media-artworks
  follow Q&A and beverage-break, including Andrew Gilligan’s Brit-TV
“Kidnapping American Style”, Katherin McInnis’ “Spook Speak”,
and other pointed pieces. Doors open at 8 for
 artists’/authors’reception; showtime is 8:30. Admission is $5.
