 presentation by NANCY PRICE  Co-Chair, Alliance for Democracy  Western 
 Coordinator, Defending Water for Life Project  5:00 p.m. - Potluck Supper  
 6:00 p.m. - Program  Free and open to the public   A discussion about 
 important issues of water scarcity and quality and the effects of 
 privatization.  Price will deconstruct the myth that corporations can 
 provide safer, cleaner, and more affordable water.   She will review how 
 international trade agreements threaten the democratic authority of our 
 local and state representatives to protect public water services and water 
 resources, using as an example the Cal American takeover of the Sacramento 
 water supply.  Price will also discuss how some citizen groups in 
 California and elsewhere are challenging the privatization of water 
 services and taking of public water for private profit and suggest 
 directions for local education and action.  Nancy Price is a Co-Chair of 
 Alliance for Democracy and is the Western Coordinator of its Defending 
 Water for Life Project.  She is on the leadership teams of Womens 
 International League for Peace and Freedom’s Save the Water and Challenge 
 Corporate Power/Assert the People’s Rights Campaigns.  She is a 
 co-founder of the Water Allies Network and is on the Boards of Friends of 
 the River and the California Center for Community Democracy.  She has also 
 served on the City of Davis Planning Commission and the Davis Energy Task
