DESCRIPTION:Event @ the World Affairs Council, 2/9 What: “Scars of War, Wounds of
Peace: The Israeli-Arab Tragedy" Who: Shlomo Ben-Ami, Former Foreign
Minister of Israel; former Minister of Public Security; Israel's former
Ambassador to Spain; and chief Israeli negotiator at the Camp David summit
Event: As a distinguished historian and a vital participant in peace
negotiations, Shlomo Ben-Ami combines a scholar’s balanced perspective
with his own experience in describing the historical and cultural reasons
why peace in the Middle East is so heartbreakingly elusive. In his new
book, Scars of War, Wounds of Peace, Ben-Ami tells the story of the
powerful trends in Israel both before and after the 1967 war and traces the
missteps of the Israeli and Palestinian political systems. He believes in
creating an international mandate in the Palestinian territories that would
lead to the implementation of Clinton's two-state peace parameters. When:
Thursday, February 9; Check in: 5:30 PM, Program: 6:00 PM Where: World
Affairs Council, 312 Sutter St., 2nd Floor Auditorium, San Francisco
