DESCRIPTION:Executing Justice: California and the Death Penalty  A conversation with 
 Ellen Kreitzberg and Henry Organ  Three prisoners on California’s death 
 row, including Nobel Peace Prize nominee Stanley “Tookie” Williams, are 
 scheduled to be executed in the next couple of months. Meanwhile, a bill 
 calling for a moratorium on California’s death penalty awaits action in 
 the legislature and local elected officials are calling for its passage.  
 Get an update on the state of the death penalty in California from two 
 leading activists on this critical issue. Will 2006 be the year 
 Californians can stop the machinery of death?  Professor Ellen Kreitzberg 
 created and directs the Death Penalty College, a training program held each 
 year at Santa Clara University Law School. This program brings in over 65 
 capital defense counsel from around the country. She also serves on the 
 Death Penalty Seminar committee, which is responsible for an annual seminar 
 for over 900 capital defenders each February.  Henry Organ is a grassroots 
 activist with California People of Faith Against the Death Penalty, whose 
 local efforts have led to resolutions in support of a moratorium by the 
 Santa Clara and San Mateo County Boards of Supervisors as well as a number 
 of city council resolutions.  The program will be broadcast and webcast 
 live on Mid-Peninsula Community Media Cable Channel 27 and rebroadcast 
 throughout December as part of the ongoing “Other Voices” television
