DESCRIPTION:ANSWER Educational Forum INDONESIA 40 YEARS LATER The Hidden CIA 1965
Massacre and its Continuing Impact Beginning on October 1, 1965, the
Indonesian military with the full support and participation of the United
States CIA, unleashed a ferocious assault on the progressive movement
throughout the country. Up to 3 million people were killed—trade
unionists, communists, peasant, student and women’s groups organizers and
Indonesians of Chinese descent. The 1965 slaughter liquidated the
people’s movement for a generation, opened the country to unlimited
exploitation by the transnational corporations, and shifted the balance of
forces in Asia. What happened in Indonesia 40 years ago holds important
lessons for today. Speakers and video excerpts from "Shadow Play:
Indonesia’s Year’s of Living Dangerously." $3-10 donation (no one
turned away for lack of funds) Wheelchair accessible. Call to reserve free
 childcare, 415-821-6545. \n
