DESCRIPTION:For over a decade, the people of Iraq have suffered human rights violations
imposed on them through sanctions sponsored by the US Government and
oppression by their own leader Saddam Hussein.\n\nUNICEF (United Nations
Children's Fund) recently stated that over 500,000 Iraqi children have died
due to malnourshment and disease related to sanctions. Instances of
childhood leukemia have skyrocketed since the Persian Gulf War after the US
dropped bombs made with depleted uranium. Chemotherapy is not available to
the majority of children.\n\nNow, the US Government is threatening to
escalate the offensive against Iraq with a new bombing campaign. This will
inevitable result in the deaths of many civilians who are already in a
desperate condition. Come hear two experts speak about why the US policy
against Iraq is unnecessary and what people of ocnscience in the United
States can do to stop it.\n\nPaul George, Director of the Peninsula Peace &
Justice Center and member of Nation Network to End the War Against
Iraq\n\nMahmood Suleiman, former member of the UN World Health Organization
working in Iraq and in touch with family members in Iraq.\n\n$0-$10 sliding
scale domation requested\n\nTOWN HALL COMMITTEE AGAINST WAR AND
