DESCRIPTION:This winter, Grand Lake Farmer's Market will be publicly announcing its
genetic engineering (GE)-free food policy, the first market in Oakland to
do so! To kickoff this phenomenal announcement, we will be holding panel
discussions comprising experts from Oakland Institute, Center for
Environmental Health, People's Grocery amongst others to discuss the
potential impacts of genetic engineering and what our alternatives are for
a healthier, just and sustainable food system. We will also be screening
"FUTURE OF FOOD" by local producer, Debra Garcia, and hosting a shopping
tour on how to shop for healthier and safe food. Voted "Best Farmer’s
'Market" in the East Bay Express magazine, Grand Lake Farmer's Market has a
great selection of organic produce and an excellent variety of food
purveyors and artisans. Event is free. Donations are greatly appreciated!
