 Mutual Aid in the Era of Katrina.  With Azibuike Akaba, Rebecca Solnit and

 Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Avian Flu, Global Warming.  Are we 
 living in an era of accelerating natural and social disasters?  How are 
 corporations and governments contributing to and profiting from these 
 disasters?  And what lessons can we learn from the autonomous organization 
 of communities in disasters past and present?    Panelists will explore 
 these questions.  Azibuike Akaba has done extensive environmental work in 
 Louisiana and many other places.  He is currently the Community Technical 
 Assistance Coordinator for the West Oakland Environmental Indicators 
 Project   Rebecca Solnit is the author of many books and article, including 
 "The Uses of Disaster" in Harpers magazine, October, 2005.  Joel Kovel is 
 the editor of the journal "Capitlism, Nature and Socialism" and the author 
 of "The Enemy of Nature:  The End of Capitalism or the End of the World".
