 Remarks \n\nWith academics, journalists, and lawyers in mainstream media 
 advocating the legalization of torture, TASSC members believe that an open 
 discussion on the subject of torture is essential. The two-day conference 
 is entitled, On the Question of Torture: An Exchange of Views. The 
 conference, to be held June 25-26, will be part of TASSC\\\\\\\'s 5th 
 annual, week-long commemoration of June 26th, U.N. International Day in 
 Support of Torture Victims and Survivors. \n\nThis conference will bring 
 together torture survivors from around the world and individuals from 
 different sectors of society. Invited participants will include persons who 
 advocate the use and legalization of torture and others who are firmly 
 opposed to all forms of torture under any circumstances. \n\n \n\n\n
