DESCRIPTION:The CELLspace Film Cluster, along with the Coalition to Stop the Minutemen 
 and the Borderland Collective, presents..  ::!::STOP the MINUTEMEN::!::  A 
 Special CELLspace Movie Night to help raise awareness and mobilize 
 resistance against the Minutemen and the various forms of violence and  
 injustice taking place along what is known as the US/ Mexico border.  
 Contribute to the Coalition to Stop the Minutemen and other groups, in 
 shutting down the Minutemen when they arrive at the Califas border on Sep  
 16, (Mexican Independence Day!).  Sunday August 28th, 7pm, $5 suggested 
 donation for CELLspace, no one turned away. Inside the event, there will be 
 the opportunity to donate to the South Bay Coalition to Stop the Minutemen 
 and other participating  groups.  Tentative event schedule:  7pm, free food 
 and refreshments. Various immigrant and indigenous rights organizations 
 will be present and tabling.  ~7:30pm, a few shorts from the ANIMAQUILADORA 
 series: Alex Rivera and Lalo Lopez, 1997, ~4min each. Includes L.A. 
 Cucaracha, a series of three animated shorts based on the political cartoon 
 strip by Lalo Lopez.  Followed by Speakers from The Borderland Collective, 
 the Bay Area Coalition to Stop the Minutemen and more TBA.  ~8:30pm, 
 NATIVES: Jesse Lerner/Scott Sterling, 1991, 24min. Natives follows the 
 individuals involved in San Diego's anti-immigration movement.  Relying 
 principally on a direct cinema style and eye for the absurd, the  film 
 critiques the nativist position by contrasting their professed love of 
 country with their racist and anti-democratic attitudes.  ~9pm, Feature 
 Film: THE SILENT CROSS: Joaquin Alvarado, 2004, 87min. Spanish/English. A 
 Chicano filmmaker learns first hand the perils migrants  face crossing the 
 US/Mexico border in search of work and opportunity.   Proceeded with an 
 open conversation with director, Joaquin Alvarado.  (Interpretors will be
