DESCRIPTION:Haiti Under Siege: The Struggle for Full Human Rights and Democracy Today
Speakers: Seth Donnelly and Sasha Kramer of the Haiti Action Committee
Learn about the destructive role of U.S. foreign policy on Haiti and what
you can do to stand in solidarity with the Haitian people. The program
will include an eyewitness report-back by Seth Donnelly, a California high
school teacher who was a member of the U.S. Labor/Human Rights Delegation
that was recently in Haiti investigating labor and human rights conditions.
The presentation will include video footage of Cite Soleil, one of the
poorest neighborhoods in Port-au-Prince, which provides evidence of a
massacre by UN troops on July 6th, 2005. This massacre has been ignored
and/or covered up by the U.S. mainstream media. The presentation will also
include an update on the struggle of political prisoners in Haiti by local
Haiti solidarity activist Sasha Kramer. In particular, Sasha will address
the recent incarceration of Rev. Gerard Jean-Juste, one of Haiti's leading
pro-democracy and human rights advocates, and the ongoing incarceration of
Annette Auguste, one of Haiti's veteran folksingers and pro-democracy
activists. She will show video footage of both political prisoners.
Facilitated by Paul George of Peninsula Peace and Justice Center. The
program will be broadcast live on Mid-Peninsula Community Media Cable
Channel 27 and rebroadcast throughout August as part of the ongoing "Other
Voices" television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center.
 Free; sponsored by PPJC.\n
