DESCRIPTION:Due to moist condidtions, the RRR has been moved... but not very far. Check
here for the new directions (the old ones will get you there too since we
will have signs) and to find out what to bring! PLEASE SPREAD THIS MESSAGE
TO ANY APPROPRIATE LISTS AND FORWARD TO ANYONE YOU KNOW IS PLANNING ON
ATTENDING THE RRR. THANKS. The RRR site has been moved to Shellrock Lake,
but DON"T PANIC, it's adjacent to Cache Meadow, the previous site that
was announced. The dates are still July 4-11. 1. RIDES 2. MODIFIED
DIRECTIONS 3. THERE ARE BUGS! BRING WATER! Come Self-Sufficient 4.
GETTING DIRECTIONS & RIDES WITHOUT EMAIL ACCESS RIDES: RIDE Board will
be up by the end of today (Wed 28th) at
http://cascadiarising.org/rrr2005/. If you cannot check the ride board
on-line, call Cascadia Rising at 503-493-7495. There will be a phone
number on the answering machine to call for in-person help. DIRECTIONS:
Follow current directions ( http://cascadiarising.org/rrr2005/) to the
Ripplebrook Ranger Station 25 miles SE of Estacada on Hwy. 224 (Estacada
is roughly 30 miles SE of Portland, OR). From Ripplebrook to the Rondy is
about 17 miles. All roads are good quality with most of them being
paved. Turn left at Ripplebrook Ranger Station on FS Rd. 4631 (sign
says "Timothy Lake detour route" as FS RD 57 has been washed out) and
take it to its end at the juncture with 4635/4630 (basically 4631 turns
into 4630). Turn/stay right onto 4630, go to its end, and turn left onto
FS RD 57. Go about one mile. Turn left on FS RD 58, go about 2.5 miles,
and turn left on FS RD 5830. The sign at this junction (5830 sign is
not visible till you turn onto it a couple hundred feet) says to
"Hideaway Lake." Go about 4 miles to the 130 spur and turn right, go
about one mile to the welcome station on your left. Parking is in the
quarry across from the welcome station. The trail up to Shellrock Lake
from the welcome center is about a half mile up hill. For those who
need easier access to Shellrock Lake, there is an easier trail in. Check
in at the Welcome center for directions. Drop off those who need to take
this trail, then drive your rig back to the parking quarry. DON'T
FORGET: Mosquito bite prevention (eat garlic, long sleeves, repellant,
netting, whatever works for you) Water Jugs, Water Filters, etc. Come
self-sufficient! LUDDITES & TRAVELLERS: If you do not have internet
access you can call (503) 493-7495. The answering machine will have phone
numbers to call to receive help with the ride board and/or to get the
latest directions. The Web is the best place for that information, but
for those without access these phone numbers will get you in touch with
someone who does have web access! homepage: http://www.earthfirst2005.org
