DESCRIPTION:Protest Citigroup Thursday at Noon!\n by gatito • Wednesday
 April 24, 2002 at 04:56 PM\n\n Citigroup, number one
funder of the fossil fuel industry and the world's biggest global warmer\n
makes its profits at the expense of the planet and its
inhabitants Protest at noon tomorrow\n (Thursday April
25th ) at 590 Market Street. Protest Citigroup, the world's most
 destructive\n bank! \n\n Stop the World's
most destructive bank! Refuse to do business with Citigroup! Refuse to let
\n Citi use your money to fund global warming and global \n
forest destruction. Recently, Dutch bank \n ABN
AMRO’s decision to cease funding for \n extractive
industries within pristine forests \n set a global standard
that banks must finally take \n responsibility for profiting
from destruction. \n\n Mass species extinction, \n
rising sea levels, and the spread of diseases are the \n
result of global warming stemming from our deadly \n fossil
fuel addiction. As the \n largest financial institution in
the world and the #1 \n financier of fossil fuel projects,
Citi determines \n what projects get funding and what do not.
 As a \n financial \n powerhouse, the world’s
largest bank must take \n responsibility for its actions.
Citi must stop \n profiting from this deadly industry and
begin financing \n clean alternatives, such as solar and
wind. As the \n race for remaining fossil fuel reserves
becomes more \n heated, \n Citi has turned its
investments to the Amazon, fueling \n an oil boom in pristine
rainforest ecosystems and on \n sacred indigenous lands. \n\n
Citi’s destruction can be traced from redlining and \n
predatory lending, indebting people of color in our \n
inner cities, to participating in the OCP / Ecuador \n
pipeline where activists have put their bodies on the \n line
to save their treasured forests. From Citigroup’s \n
partnership with Enron in the contested Dabhol power \n plant
in India to profiting from global warming, \n Citigroup lives
up to its reputation as the World’s \n Most Destructive
Bank. On Earth Day, send a strong \n message that now is the
time to REFUSE Citi, and tell \n them“Not with My Money!”
