DESCRIPTION:InterAction’s Commission on the Advancement of Women invites you to a 
 workshop on what “gender mainstreaming” is all about and how it 
 advances women’s empowerment and gender equality.  This one-day workshop  
 in San Francisco on June 17 will introduce the CAW’s innovative Gender 
 Audit Organizational Self-Assessment and Action Planning Process.       
 InterAction’s new study, Revealing the Power of Gender Mainstreaming — 
 Enhancing Development Effectiveness of Non-Governmental Organizations in 
 Africa, shows dramatic changes for women’s status and bottom-line 
 development efforts in 16 rural communities in 4 countries after 
 organizations implemented gender mainstreaming. The voices of nearly 900 
 village women and men in this study track a true transformation in the link 
 between gender equality and poverty alleviation.  How did these NGOs attain 
 these results?   Their first step was the Gender Audit, InterAction’s 
 state-of-the-art organizational self-assessment and action planning 
 process, which this one-day workshop will introduce.   At the workshop, you 
 will:  Learn and practice the steps for the implementing the Gender Audit.  
  Discuss ways to use the Gender Audit and the Gender Audit CD-Rom  
 Facilitator’s Guide for your organization.    Explore examples from 
 organizations that have used the tool.   Receive copies of the Gender Audit 
 CD-ROM Facilitator’s Guide and the Revealing the Power of Gender
