DESCRIPTION:Event: The dramatic recent rise in oil prices reflects the fact that for
 the first time in more than two decades, there is virtually no spare oil
 production capacity left—with far-reaching implications for national
 security, economic stability, and all of our pocketbooks. An energy economy
 based on renewable sources of energy, highly efficient technologies, and
 hydrogen fuel could foster a more secure world---one that is less
 vulnerable to chaos in the Middle East and to the threat of climate change
 provoked by heavy use of fossil fuels.  When: Wednesday, May 25th;
 check-in: 5:30 PM, program: 6:00 PM What: Lecture. “Energy Security: Why
 Oil's Days are Numbered -- and What We Can Do About It.” Who:
 Christopher Flavin, the Worldwatch Institute’s President, has written and
 lectured widely on energy issues since 1980. He has authored dozens of
 articles and papers on the subject, including the 1994 book, Power Surge:
 Guide to the Coming Energy Revolution. He previously served as the
 Institute's Director of Research and Senior Vice President. Chris serves on
 the Board of Directors of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, the
 American Council on Renewable Energy, the Climate Institute, and the Energy
 and Environmental Studies Institute. He earned a B.A. degree in Economics
 and Biology from Williams College in Massachusetts Where: World Affairs
