CA—Music and politics will punctuate the Cannabis Day 2005 celebration in
San Francisco. The celebration, already in it’s 6th year, has steadily
gained steam as the Bay Area’s premier cannabis event. Attendees in
excess of 10,000 are expected as notable speakers Assemblyman Mark Leno,
Godfather of Medicinal Marijuana Dennis Peron, Author/Activists Jack Herer,
Guru of Ganja Ed Rosenthal, Angel Raich, Chris Conrad and Mikki Norris,
Attornies J. Tony Serra and Omar Figueroa, CA NORML’s Dale Gehringer and
a host of others address the burning issue of medicinal cannabis, the drug
war and the future of industrial hemp in our society. Musicians for
Medical Marijuana will headline an all-star day of music featuring the
Caribbean Allstars, Alphabet Soup, Terry Haggerty and Harvey Mandel, Los
Marijuanos and the Lynnette Shaw Band. The state of the art sound system
will feature new hemp cone speaker technology developed by Marin County’s

44’ diameter healing dome designed to inspire, delight, heal and
enlighten all who participate. Therapuetic massage, acupuncture and
chiropractic adjustments will be provided in a sonic immersion bath of
harmonic sound frequencies creating a deep meditative/contemplative
experience. “There is an awful lot going on with cannabis in our culture
right now despite the federal government’s backward position,” said
Michael Foley organizer of San Francisco Cannabis Day 2005. “As usual
Assemblyman Mark Leno is on the cutting edge of cannabis politics with AB
1147, which would remove the current ban on the production of industrial
hemp in California. The United States Supreme Court will have another
chance before June to rule on commerce and medicinal marijuana in the case
of Angel Raich and Diane Monson. San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkirimi is
working on regulation, which would further legitimize medical cannabis in
the City. Americans for Safe Access is awaiting a decision on a petition
filed with the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services to address the
federal rescheduling of cannabis. San Francisco Cannabis Day 2005 is part
of a worldwide event to draw attention to and end the destructive
prohibition on cannabis that plagues our planet. Science and public opinion
have reached critical mass. Let’s make this change already so we can get
on with other important issues facing our nation and the world.”
