DESCRIPTION:Amy Goodman, the award-winning host and executive producer of Pacifica
Radio’s "Democracy Now!", has for years confronted the Washington
establishment and its corporate cronies. Her goal is “to go where the
silence is, to give voice to the silenced majority.” Her book _The
Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the
Media That Love Them_, written with her brother David Goodman, chronicles
the tireless efforts of an unembedded journalist and her colleagues to get
to the truth and expose the lies, corruption and crimes of the power elite
 – an elite that is bolstered by large media conglomerates. _The
Exception to the Rulers_ was chosen by independent bookstores as the #1
political title of 2004. The editors of Publishers Weekly also chose the
book as one of the top 50 non-fiction books of 2004. Amy’s appearance
coincides with the paperback release of _The Exception to the Rulers_; the
lecture will be followed by a book signing. The event is featured as part
of a week of talks by independent journalists hosted by Peninsula Peace and
Justice Center. $7 - $15 suggested donation benefits Peninsula Peace and
 Justice Center.\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2005/03/28/61563.php
