DESCRIPTION:Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, there will be actions at UC Berkeley, 
 UC Davis, San Jose State University, and San Francisco State University on 
 April 9th in support of the Palestinian people.  The American University in 
 Beirut has also called for an international Universities' Solidarity Day 
 with the Palestinian people. Please read their announcement below and join 
 in protest on  April 9th.\n\n\nThe Universities' Solidarity Day with the 
 Palestinian People\n\nIn the midst of the brave uprising, intifada, of the 
 Palestinian \npeople and while the Israeli war machine has been escalating 
 its \naggression upon the Palestinian people, with crimes committed under 
 \nthe eyes of the whole world, silence is unbearable. Silence is a \ncrime 
 in this case.\n\nMany events have organized worldwide to support and show 
 solidarity \nwith Palestinian people throughout the past year and half, 
 \nunfortunately their impact has not yet been as effective as it should 
 \nbe. We think that a coordinated event in universities across the \nglobe 
 can get the message through.\n\nThe Palestinian Cultural Club at the 
 American University in Beirut \ncalls for a coordinated day of solidarity 
 among as many universities \nas possible world wide, on April 9th, 2002. 
 This date marks the 54th \nanniversary of themassacre of Deir Yassin. The 
 title of this event \nis "The Universities'Solidarity Day with the 
 Palestinian People"\nIt is time to show the world what is really happening 
 in Palestine. \nMedia coverage essential for this to have an impact, as 
 well as \ncoordinating the activities.\n\nThe proposed idea is to hold 
 activities and events in universities, \neach according to its capabilities 
 and characteristics, with one \nsimple, common \nevent: a minute of silence 
 at 12:00 (Beirut time +2 GMT).\nWe, the PCC at the American University of 
 Beirut, are having \nthe following activities.\n· Donation campaigns\n· A 
 large exhibition regarding different aspects of the Palestinian 
 \ncause.\n· A visual show presenting different films about Palestine.\n· 
 Stands all over campus showing facts and pictures about the \nPalestinian 
 \nsuffering.\n· Other activities being discussed.\nWe are also designing a 
 logo for this so that it can be used by all\nparticipating universities, 
 with the title mentioned above.\n\nWith a combined effort we can make a
