DESCRIPTION:African people in Oakland have been pushed out of their communities through
gentrification and discriminatory police and imprisonment policies. The
Uhuru Solidarity Movement organizes white people under the leadership of
the African-led Uhuru Movement to take a stand against the war on the black
community that is nearly ignored by so-called white progressives. Come
out to hear from Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People's Solidarity
Committee (APSC) and the leader of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement. She is
the author of Overturning the Culture of Violence, a book that takes a look
at history from the perspective of African and oppressed peoples. Get
involved in the work to take a stand and challenge the attacks on the black
community in our city and beyond. Support the Uhuru Movement that struggles
to uplift the entire community through economic development and a struggle
 for social justice.\n
