DESCRIPTION:The Uhuru Solidarity Movement and the Uhuru Africa Club sponsors a film
and discussion for Black History Month on Civil Rights, Black Power,
African Liberation and the role of white solidarity. Grass roots video
footage covering the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements brings us up to
the year 2005 on the struggle of the black community and African people
world wide for freedom and liberation. From the leadership of Rosa Parks
during the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycotts of the 1950's to the rise in
popularity of Malcolm X and the Black Panthers, the struggle for black
freedom endures the attacks of the U.S. government under COINTELPRO. The
Movement survives now in the midst of police containment, decades of a "war
on drugs" and the massive imprisonment of African people in the United
States. Learn about the vison and programs of the Uhuru Movement and the
role of Uhuru Solidarity in building a world where African and all
oppressed peoples can benefit from the fruits of their labor and have
access to their land and resources. The Uhuru Solidarity Movement works
under the leadership of the Uhuru Movement for white solidarity with the
black community's struggle for justice. Call 510-295-7834 for more info.\n
