DESCRIPTION:What are our rights and liberties and how are they in jeopardy? What is
the Patriot act and does it “insure life and liberty” for all
Americans? In light of our national history, what role can and should
Black Americans play in the current struggle to maintain American Civil
liberties? Why and how do we engage in interfaith and interracial
coalition building? An American born Muslim, Mahdi Bray is a product of
the Black civil rights movement of the 60’s and 70’s and current
activist for the preservation of American civil liberties. Bray will
address the Stanford Community on the issues and responsibilities that face
Americans of various race and creed in a post-911 society. Mahdi Bray, a
long time civil and human rights activist, is currently the Executive
Director of the Muslim American Society's Freedom Foundation and the
President of the Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations (CCMO).\n
