St./Valencia St. San Francisco $5.00 Donation Requested (no one turned
away for lack of funds) The failure of the AFL-CIO to put Kerry in the
White House has exacerbated and exposed their deep going internal crisis.
They used hundreds of millions dollars of union dues to support Kerry and
the Democrats and now they are paralyzed about what Bush and his co-hort
Arnold in California plan to do to the unions. Andy Stern of the SEIU and
other officials of the AFL-CIO say there needs to be major changes if the
AFL-CIO is to survive. This forum will look at how these unions function,
why they are in crisis, what changes these officials want and why the
AFL-CIO faces a possible break-up. It will also look at why the AFL-CIO
continues to be silent on the war on Iraq and refuses to mobilize their
membership against the war. The rank and file of the AFL-CIO have been
forced to take concession after concession from the UFCW grocery clerks ,
CWA SBC workers, SF city workers and airline workers and more and more
members are beginning to ask how to stop the onslaught. The Labor Action
Coalition is organizing nationally and locally to defend democratic labor
rights and to organize the fightback against union busting, wage cutting
and concession bargaining that is taking place throughout the labor
movement. If you are interested in contacting us go to
