 ==================================================  "Marriage, Anything
 Less Is Less Than Equal"
 ==================================================  Tuesday, February 1,
 2005 at 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM Change of location for this meeting: Chapel of
 the Chimes 4499 Piedmont Ave, Oakland Special presentation: Media savvy
 February is anniversary month for many of the SF-married couples and for
 the historic events that took place last year. It will bring many
 opportunties to get out our message of civil marriage equality in news
 stories, letters to editors, or radio call-ins. Does talking to the media
 make you nervous? Are you focused on what message you want to convey?
 Public Relations professional and EQCA (Equality California) board member
 Linton Johnson will join us for a presentation on how to be an effective
 spokesperson for marriage equality. Please join us for our monthly
 meeting. ---------------------- I would like to publicly thank the many
 professionals who volunteered their time last Saturday morning at
 “(AB205 ) and Love, Kisses, Wills, and Trusts” held at Chapel of the
 Chimes in Oakland. There was lots of great information and time for
 private discussion. So THANK YOU: Allison Rodman organized the whole event
 and was there to discuss funeral and cemetery arrangements, as well as
 medical power of attorney for health care, and other important concerns.
 Our volunteer notary, Mary Kearny Stroube, M.S, . J.D. and author of “I
 do …..don’t I?” A Guide to Understanding the California Domestic
 Partner Rights & Responsibilities Act for Couples and Professionals. We
 now have a copy of the book. Two couples officially became domestic
 partners at the event with Mary providing the notarizing. And thanks to
 her “partner in crime” Britt Alkire. Catherine Pinkas is an
 investment representative for Edward Jones. Elizabeth Callaway is a
 professional fiduciary. Alma Soongi Beck is an attorney focusing on
 estates and trusts, domestic partnerships, and property co-ownership
 issues. Emily Doskow is a mediator, attorney focusing on adoptions, and a
 legal editor for NOLO Press which has many useful resources for the LGBT
 community. Paula Taylor is a Long Term Care Insurance Specialist. Deb
 Kinney, of Boutiette & Von Hermann, LLP practices family law and estate
 work. Klimist & Shore are mortgage professionals with Aspire Funding.
 Dana Wilson is Realtor. Mel and Geert joined us from Immigration Equality
 and shared MECA’s table. All of these people are wonderful resources.
 MECA thanks them for their participation. Sincerely, Robin, Jan and Heidi
