DESCRIPTION:Muslim Student Awareness Network is hosting this event. The situation in
Darfur has been described as one of the worst humanitarian crises in the
world today, with more than 70,000 deaths and upwards of a million people
left homeless. We will host a discussion with Sudan’s ambassador to the
US and members of the 'Give Peace A Chance' Coalition on how the
international community can help to alleviate the suffering of the people
of Darfur and bring peace back into their lives. Mr. Khidir Haroun Ahmed
has served as Sudan’s ambassador to the US since August 2003 and
previously served as the Ambassador of Sudan to Japan and Algeria.
Hodari Abdul-Ali is the Executive Director of the 'Give Peace a Chance’
Coalition, a non-profit, independent research organization formed to raise
public awareness about U.S. foreign policy in Africa. Rahiel
Tesfamariam, Stanford class of ’03, is a journalist for the Washington
Informer and recently embarked on the 'Give Peace a Chance’ fact-finding
mission to Sudan to investigate the crisis in Darfur. \n
