DESCRIPTION:Idea share is a monthly event, where local speakers talk about things that 
 they find interesting.  Plenty of writers speak publicly, but people who 
 haven't written books also have plenty to say.  Come hear everyday folks 
 address radical issues that are relevant to our lives.  This is not a 
 skillshare, this is an idea share.  Potluck at 7pm.  Speakers at 8pm.  
 Speakers for January 25th:  Lee --  "Do you have to fuck people over to 
 survive?  Stories from game theory, and a defending point of view."  A lot 
 of people interested in system thinking and various branches of science are 
 interested in the "Prisoner's Dilemma."  It's a thought experiment about 
 being in police custody: will you talk and get released, or keep solidarity 
 with your friends?  Classical economics can't explain why people keep 
 solidarity.;  This theory problem is supposed to stand in for all the 
 different situations where people help each other.  I have a different set 
 of stories about cooperation that don't start by assuming people are in a 
 horrible bind.  Tanya -- "Community Response To Intimate Violence"  The 
 concept of Intimate Violence deepends current common understandings of 
 domestic violence to include all our intimate relationships - whether 
 between sexual partners, housemates, family members, or good friends.  It 
 also uses the model of the cycle of violence as a foundation but moves 
 beyond it to look at more complicated power dynamics that exist in most 
 abusive relationships.  Examining these power dynamics and responding to 
 them as a community that strives to meet each other's needs instead of 
 relying on the cops or social services is tricky work.  Come talk about 
 some options we have for dealing with these difficult situations when they 
 arise in our communities.\n
