DESCRIPTION:AFTER ARAFAT: ARE THE PALESTINIANS CLOSER TO PEACE? Khalil Barhoum is
Coordinator of Stanford University’s Program in Middle Eastern and
African Languages and Literatures. A native of Palestine, Barhoum has long
been a highly-respected and effective speaker, writer, activist, and leader
in both the Palestinian-American community and the broader peace movement.
Barhoum will try to answer some of the many questions surrounding
Palestinian politics in 2005: How will the death of Yasir Arafat affect the
Israel-Palestine conflict? What can we expect from January’s Palestinian
elections? Who makes up the new Palestinian leadership? And what will be
Arafat’s lasting legacy? Free. The program will be broadcast live on
Mid-Peninsula Media Cable Channel 27 and rebroadcast on Channels 27 and 30
throughout January. It is part of the ongoing “Other Voices”
television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center. \n
