DESCRIPTION:Foie Gras Campaign: IDA/APRL to Unveil French Foie Gras Cruelty In the
spring of 2004, activists in France documented appalling conditions in
French foie gras farms and started showing their footage to retailers in
France, the world's largest producer and consumer of the force fed duck
liver. Picard, a 500 store supermarket chain, removed information about
foie gras from its website as a result. They have released a video, the
English version of which can be viewed at http://www.StopForceFeeding.com .
Please join IDA and the Animal Protection and Rescue League (APRL) at a
demonstration/press conference at 11:00 a.m. this Wednesday, December 15 at
the French Consulate in San Francisco at 540 Bush Street (at Grant street)
to unveil the footage and to support a European Union directive that all
member nations--including France--stop using isolation cages by 2006 and
stop force-feeding by 2010. France is planning to defy both requirements,
the first of which is to go into effect as of the first of the New Year.
Please contact Joanne Kipnis at Joanne@idausa.org or (415) 388-9641, ext.
217 if you are interested in attending the event to hold posters of hand
 out leaflets. \n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2004/12/14/53903.php
