 Professor Emeritus of    Languages at the University of California, 
 Berkeley, and founder and    former chairperson of the University's Peace 
 and Conflict Studies    program, Nagler has become one of the world's most 
 widely respected    peace scholars and activists. Nagler is the author of 
 several books,    including America Without Violence (Island Press) and The 
 Upanishads    (Nilgiri Press), and his most recent book, The Search for a 
 Nonviolent    Future: A Promise of Peace for Ourselves, Our Families, and 
 Our World    (Berkeley Hills Books), which received an American Book Award
