DESCRIPTION:Artists for Social and Political Awareness present Claudia Bernardi, Susan
Greene and Guy Colwell, three professional artists, to talk about their
political art and their activism. Claudia Bernardi:Born in Buenos Aires,
Bernardi is an internationally known artist who works in the fields of
human rights and social justice and who has exhibited her work in over 40
solo exhibitions.  She is an artist who has witnessed monstrous atrocities
and unspeakable human tragedies, yet speaks of these horrors in ways that
communicate the persistence of hope, undeniable integrity, and necessary
remembrance. Susan Greene: A Bay Area public artist, activist, muralist
and clinical psychologist, Greene has been working with Break the Silence
Mural Project since 1989 to use art and activism in the struggle for a just
peace in Palestine.  She directs the learning center at the San Francisco
Art Institute and is an adjunct professor at the University of San
Francisco. Guy Colwell: Jailed for his refusal to go to Vietnam in the
late 60?s, Colwell began to create art that discusses political, social,
peace and justice issues while in prison. In late 70?s and early 80?s he
created commentary comicbook art. Between 1988 and 1992 he worked in the
Sierra foothills and began to break away from urban focused realism,
dealing mostly with the relationship between humans, animals and the
environment. our events are always free and open to the public!\n
