DESCRIPTION:1st Annual Downtown Davis Animal Rights Film Festival FREE award-winning

8: DOUBLE FEATURE The Emotional Lives of Farmed Animals This companion
film to Jeffrey Moussaieff Mason’s latest book, The Pig Who Sang to the
Moon, offers an in depth look at the emotional lives of the sentient beings
who exist primarily to become someone’s dinner. Mason visited with
animals living on farm sanctuaries like Animal Place in CA and Farm
Sanctuary in NY and examines the changes that come over an animal who makes
it from a factory farm to the safety of a sanctuary. Peaceable Kingdom
"Peaceable Kingdom is a masterpiece. I hope it inspires growing numbers of
people to support this desperately important cause." — Jane Goodall, PhD,
DBE, UN Messenger of Peace At a time when factory farming is in the
headlines for putting the environment and public health at risk, Peaceable
Kingdom takes its audience on an eye-opening journey to the heart of this
unfolding national drama. Propelled by the testimony of farmers who have
themselves come to question the fundamental assumptions behind their
community’s way of life, the film delivers a riveting portrait of human
and animal lives caught up in an out of control industrial machine. Much
more than an exposé, Peaceable Kingdom is about personal redemption,
commitment, healing and hope, offering a life-changing vision of a peaceful
world that is well within our reach. The AR Film Fest is brought to you
by Viva! and S.T.A.R. (Students Together For Animal Rights – a registered
UC Davis student group). Call 530-759-VIVA or visit http://www.VivaUSA.org
