DESCRIPTION:Hey friends, This is a reminder to join CorpWatch THIS Sunday, November
21st to preview a new film by Danny Schechter, the "News Dissector," titled
WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception. In out previous email we forgot to mention
that the event is $5-$10 sliding scale, no one turned away for lack of
funds. So come on out! Directed by one of America's most prolific media
critics, this 100 minute film analyzes the collusion between the military
and the media "news coverage" of the Iraq war. A call to action against the
concentration of media ownership and a challenge to further develop
Independent media. WMD busts through so-called "objective reporting" to
challenge media complicity with the government in presenting the Iraq War
the way it did. This is a hard-hitting, yet personal film that looks at the
television war and asks why the American audience lapped it up and how the
Pentagon helped shape media coverage. Danny Schechter is an award winning
journalist, writer, and filmmaker on media issues. He is also a founder of
Globalvision, Inc., an award-winning media company formed in l987, and the
executive editor of MediaChannel.org, a website dedicated to media issues.
His broad experience includes being the news director and principal
newscaster for WBCN-FM and working as a news program producer and
investigative reporter at CNN and ABC. His articles have appeared in many
publications such as Newsday, Boston Globe, Columbia Journalism Review,
Detroit Free Press, Village Voice, and others. Also at the screening,
Pratap Chatterjee will present CorpWatch's new book, "Iraq, Inc.: A
Profitable Occupation," published by Seven Stories Press, which details the
failure of the companies hired to rebuild the country. "A powerful
combination of investigative research and on-the-ground reporting." -Naomi
Klein, author No Logo, columnist The Guardian, UK. "Iraq, Inc., is the
ultimate primer of how modern U.S. invasion and occupation for profit is
being waged. You won't learn any of this on the evening news." -Amy
Goodman, host of Democracy Now! Click on the following link for more
 information on Iraq, Inc.: http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=11583
We will show two screenings, one at 5:30pm and one at 8:00pm on Sunday,
