DESCRIPTION:SAN FRANCISCO (CA, USA) - Romeo 5, Asian Art Café and Bar, will feature
the artwork of local Bay Area artist, Phillip Hua from September 1st though
October 31st, with the reception on September 10th, from 6-8pm. Located in
the Kinokuniya building in the Japan Center, Romeo 5, a longtime supporter
of the arts, regularly features artwork from the Asian community. The
show, entitled “Personally Speaking…,” are abstracted illustrations
of emotions and reflections, while hinting the usage of words as an
artform. Bay area native Phillip Hua is a first generation American-born
Vietnamese artist. His work is bright and bold, and speaks to its viewer
though collaged text, vibrant paint marks, and supple textures. He is a
graduate of The Academy of Art University, with a degree in illustration.
But his work leans more towards collage and abstract expressionism than on
literal illustration. He has been featured in The Academy of Art
University’s Annual Spring Shows and he was awarded first place in The
Artist Magazine’s Student/Experimental category. He has also been
exhibited in national juried shows. This will be his first solo exhibit in
 San Francisco. \n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2004/08/08/44443.php
