DESCRIPTION:On February 13th, the Heads Up Collective Presents...\n\nThe Domestic 
 Impacts of the "War on Terrorism" and What You Can Do\n\nOver 1000 
 immigrants are being held by the FBI due to racial and\nreligious 
 profiling. Their names have not been released. Civil\nliberties have been 
 curtailed.  Hate crimes against anyone perceived \nto be Arab or Muslim 
 have skyrocketed.  Meanwhile, Congress can find $15\nbillion to bailout the 
 long-troubled airline industry, but voted down\n$1.9 billion in relief to 
 laid-off workers in the airline, tourism, \nand service industries.  As we 
 strengthen our work against the war and \nmove towards social justice, we 
 need to continue to learn about issues\nhappening nationally and 
 internationally and  to educate ourselves \nabout the impacts they have 
 locally.\n\nWe are honored to have Elly Kugler of INS Watch and the Day 
 Labor Program speak about how the "war on terrorism" is impacting immigrant 
 communities, political movements, and communties of color in the US. Her 
 presentation will be followed by a discussion of how the war impacts our 
 organizing for social justice and what we can do to take action an support 
 immigrant rights struggles.\n\nThe Heads Up Collective is an independent 
 project initiated by the Challenging White Supremacy Collective.  Our goal 
 is to organize against the "war on terrorism" with a central principle of 
 anti-racism. Though this event is predominantly aimed at white, social 
 justice activists all are welcome.  Join us as we build support for 
 immigrant rights struggles in the Bay Area.\n\nWe are asking for a donation 
 of $5-$10\n(no one turned away due to lack of funds)\n\n\n
