DESCRIPTION:International Working Class Film and Video Festival (Night 8) July 29
 (Thursday) 7:00 p.m. $5  ===========================================  "Fiat
 Respect!" A film by Regan Brashear, 2002 (34 minutes) This film shows the
 historic action of the Coalition of University Employees' strike in 2002,
 when thousands of clerical workers for the first time showed their power.
 It also exposes the role of the Regents of the University of California in
 their concerted efforts to break unions and prevent workers from winning
 decent working conditions and benefits.
 ===========================================  "Commemoration of the Merger"
 A film by Kazmi Torii, 2004 (32 minutes) Black AFM Local 669 and white AFM
 Local 6 merged into one musician's local in 1960. This year, the members
 held a commemoration. Mixing music with oral history, this film reveals a
 hidden part of San Francisco's racial and labor history and the struggle
 for equal union rights. Members of merged Local AFM 6 will be in
 attendance. =========================================== "Fire on Pier 32"
  A film by Jack Rasmus, 2003 (70 minute excerpt) This video is a recording
 of the first full-length theatrical production about the San Francisco
 General Strike and the founding and evolution of the International
 Longshore and Warehouse Workers Union, the ILWU. The video features new
 labor songs written for the play and more than thirty historical photos of
 the strike. =========================================== Other films and
 videos will also be shown this evening. LaborFest 2004 is a month of film,
 music, poetry, theater, talks, tours, and other events celebrating labor,
 our history and future. Held every July since 1994, LaborFest commemorates
 San Francisco's 1934 General Strike. For a complete schedule, visit
