 Philippines\n\nFollowing up on a “successful” invasion of Afghanistan 
 which destroyed the country and killed thousands of civilians, the u.s. is 
 taking it’s “war on terrorism” to the Philippines, starting with 600 
 u.s. soldiers who arrived in January. Bush has promised $100 million in aid 
 and special forces to fight the war in the Philippines, specifically aimed 
 at fighting the group Abu Sayyaf in Mindanao. \n\nThis invasion is not 
 really intended to defeat the Abu Sayyaf, a small bandit group which even 
 the u.s. and philippine governments say has a small base and little power. 
 The u.s. and Filipino governments are looking to strengthen their hold on 
 the island of Mindanao for military and commercial property. The 
 multi-nationals Dole and Del Monte have huge pineapple plantations on 
 Mindanao, and the united states is eyeing Mindanao for a strategic military 
 seaport as well as its oil and mineral reserves.  The true intention of the 
 u.s. is to eliminate the genuine people's movements which are standing up 
 for the rights of the Filipino people and opposing u.s. 
 interests--particularly the National Democratic movement and the movement 
 of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.\n\nThis terrorism by the U.$. and 
 their puppet government in the Philippines has already forced more than 
 700,000 people to flee their homes in the face of bombing by the Filipino 
 military that has killed hundreds. As the two governments step up their 
 attacks, the people’s resistance in the Philippines also grows. Come
