DESCRIPTION:The panelists will be Khalil Barhoum, Coordinator of Middle Eastern and
African Languages and Literatures at Stanford University, Rachelle
Marshall, columnist for the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, and
Paul George, Director of Peninsula Peace and Justice Center. As the
Israeli Defense Force continues to destroy homes in the West Bank and the
Gaza Strip, including a recent incursion into Rafah refugee camp in an
estimated 2000 people have been left homeless and 43 killed*, the
Palestinian people grow more and more desperate. A solution to the
conflict seems ever more difficult as the Israeli government continues to
uphold its policy of destroying the homes – and lives – of the innocent
as punishment for the deeds of a few guilty people. The panel will discuss
the most recent developments in the conflict, how Palestinians, Israelis,
and Americans can respond, and what prospects, if any, remain for peace.
Free and open to the public; sponsored by Peninsula Peace and Justice
Center. The program will be taped and broadcast on Mid-Peninsula Cable
Channel 27 on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. and on Channel 28 on Wednesdays at 7:00
p.m. throughout June. It is part of the ongoing “Other Voices”
television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center. *
