DESCRIPTION:Please mark your calendars to attend Radical Women's upcoming meeting:
Thursday, May 27, 7:00pm Celebrate Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Featuring a "Conversation with renowned educator Merle Woo!" Don’t miss
this evening featuring veteran writer-activist Merle Woo. This pioneering
Asian American feminist, radical educator, queer liberationist, and
heralded poet will address such topics as her experiences battling for
academic freedom; the current state of Ethnic and Women Studies; global
events and war; and how activists can maintain optimism in these times.
Woo will also be available to sign copies of her newly-reissued collection
of poems, Yellow Woman Speaks. The meeting will also include a report on
the case of political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal and why young feminists are
stepping up to defend him in 2004. A tasty dinner, with vegan option,
will be served at 6:15pm for a $6.50 donation. The meeting will be held at
New Valencia Hall, 1908 Mission Street in San Francisco (at 15th St., 1
