DESCRIPTION:April 26, 2004 Join us to celebrate May Day! May 1st is May Day, the day
of the international proletarait working class, an international
revolutionary holiday with the vision that another world without
exploitation and oppression is possible and dedicated to the struggle of
people all over the world to make this vision real. Such a holiday is more
than ever important in these historic times as people all over the planet
face off against the US government's war on the world and agenda of
domestic repression. Every year, a special issue of the Revolutionary
Worker newspaper is published to celebrate May Day, with articles on
revolution and the righteous struggles of peoples all around the world from
the peasants rising up in Nepal to create a whole new socialist society to
the students, immigrants and workers right here in the United States who
are fighting for a better world. (check out http://www.rwor.org) This
year, a special issue of the Revolutionary Worker will be available prior
to May Day featuring articles on the historic contributions of Bob Avakian,
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Communist Party, and
celebrating two important events: the 25th anniversary of the RW newspaper,
and 20th anniversary of the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement (RIM).
RIM is a revolutionary organization consisting of Maoist groups and aprties
from all around the world. To celebrate May Day this year, we are inviting
people to join us in two exciting projects: * mass distribution of the
special issue of the RW newspaper with emphasis on distributing it to area
high school students and getting the Spanish issue of the paper into the
hands of immigants and farm workers in outlying areas. * An event is
scheduled for Sunday May 2nd at 6 pm at the Humanist Hall, 390-27th Avenue
in Oakland This event will feature an amazing preview video clip from an
upcoming DVD of a recent speech by Bob Avakian. *Join us to distribute
the RW to area high school students or immigrants or sign up to get copies
of the paper to distribute in your own or other communities. * Teachers,
can develop, circulate or utilize resources about the history and
significance of May Day. These materials will be developed for teachers to
use for classroom discussions. Some important resources including the
origins of May Day are available at Revolution Books, 2625 Channing Way,
Berkeley (510-848-1196). * Lawyers or those with skills as legal observers
are needed to monitor the action of police, INS, and other law enforcement
agents while the paper is being distributed. The recent terrorization of
two Oakland high school students by Secret Service agents for comments
supposedly made during a classroom discussion on the war on Iraq is just
one example of efforts by government to stifle political discussion by
students in the classroom. You can help us prepare for the Sunday May 2nd
event at the Humanist Hall. Help will be needed to publicize the event
especially by flyering and posting May Day leaflets. You can also
participate in making banners and posters or help with decorating and
setting up the place. Please contact Revolution Books
(revolutionbooks@earthlink.net) or (510-848-1196). This will be an
unforgettable experience for everyone who participates. \n
