DESCRIPTION:Civil Gratitude We hereby call for all LGBTQ Persons and their
Supporters to take off April 1st 2004 and go to the park nearest to City
Hall for a ‘Thank You’ Party to thank all the Cities that have
recognized our Right To Same-Sex Marriage! We realize that most people
will not be able to take the whole day off from work, so we ask that you
take a 2-hour lunch from 11am to 1pm instead. That gives 30 mins to get to
the party with your own boxed lunch-n-drink, an hour to celebrate, and 30
mins to get back to work. And the people who can take off more time are
requested to show up early to help set up or to stay late to help pick up
the trash, (no gratitude in leaving trash everywhere.) This is a
Multi-City Event being planed to happen on the same day in San Francisco,
Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Boston, New York, and Washington D.C. For
those people in other Cities who wish to show solidarity but there is no
event organized in your city that you go to your own City Hall for an
‘Extended Lunch’ on the steps, or to the nearest park to City Hall.
What better way to show the Nation just how Decent and Normal we are than
to have a party Specifically to show our Gratitude? We could not have come
this far without them, and they deserve to be thanked for their efforts.
Instead of Society seeing us as different we have a chance here to show
ourselves as we truly are - just people, no different than anybody else,
who recognize the value of the Civil Rights that we have thus far attained.
There is still a long road ahead of us, and we are up to the task, but
we deserve a short break now to enjoy what progress we have made thus far.
After all, what good is getting our Civil Rights unless we have a chance to
enjoy having them? Why should people be motivated to help us unless we
properly thank them for their efforts? We are Fighting the Right Fight, the
Good Fight, a Fight we shouldn’t have to Fight, and we are going to Fight
Fair. For a Victory Won Fairly Is Sweeter Than One By Dishonesty. \n
