DESCRIPTION:Newsom May Listen to KFOG, But What About You? (Contact: Alex Posorske
415-420-3370, alex@our-city.org) Wondering what to do or feeling blue in
post-Matt Gonzalez for Mayor San Francisco? Gavin Newsom and the machine
got you down? Do you keep having recurring dreams involving Willie Brown
stealing all of your condiments and leaving the refrigerator door wide
open? Well, worry no more! Instead pick your shattered political ego off
the floor and get it on down to the El Rio (3158 Mission @Cesar Chavez) on
March 3 at 8 p.m. for the first Our City benefit show and start preparing
to take back San Francisco! Listen to the sounds of A Murder of Crows (a
mish-mash of indie-folkie boy/girl songs), Broadcast Engine (with a little
more oomph), the New York Girlfriends (who will declare their love for the
Modern Lovers) and a TBA band (and perhaps a mystery TBA political guest),
while basking in the warm glow of knowing that your $5 is going to support
Our City and its mission to bring San Francisco the elected officials this
 city deserves.

Our City was formed out of the Matt Gonzalez for Mayor Campaign with the
goal of electing progressives to office in San Francisco. We want to help
carry on the amazing energy the Gonzalez campaign unleashed in San
Francisco and believe that the best way to productively do this is to put
together the kind of political infrastructure that too often only resides
in the camps of downtown-controlled politicians. With that in mind, we are
fanning out across the city and contacting voters one-by-one to identify
progressive voters, committed volunteers and small donors while
simultaneously educating residents about various progressive issues and
campaigns. Our goal is to build a citywide network of volunteers, small
donors and community leaders who will be able to form the organizational
backbone of future progressive campaigns. With such a structure in place,
the large amount of money that politicians like Gavin Newsom can raise will
no longer be such a obstacle to candidates who truly represent their
communities and the political playing field in San Francisco will be much
 more level. \n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2004/03/02/32443.php
